Introducing Natalia Andrade M.D

Natalia Andrade, MD, is a resident from Quito-Ecuador and is currently pursuing the third year of her medical residency at the Hospital Pereira Rossell to become a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Dr. Andrade received an award for Academic Excellence Scholarship, having received outstanding grades. As a resident, her main goal is to treat and manage children and adolescents with a broad spectrum of mental disorders and behavioral disturbances.    

Dr. Andrade has experience as a Medical Officer at the Academia Cotopaxi American International School, Quito, Ecuador. She was responsible for administering, registering, and following up with children and staff at the office and often made assessments and referrals to medical appointments with medical specialists. Additionally, she worked as a general practitioner in a specialized Mental Health hospital, Hospital Especializado Julio Endara, where she was able to explore her passion for mental health for three years.

 

As a fellow of the Addiction Training for Health Professionals (ATHP) program, Dr. Andrade contributes to educational materials hosted on the NextGenU.org platform, hoping to advance health education. With her background in psychiatry, she assists in creating and reviewing medical case studies for our clinical courses, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in a meaningful way. Dr. Natalia Andrae believes that with the contributions of residents and fellows alike, they will improve and enrich the quality of public health education.

 

ATHP recognizes that addiction and other substance use disorders pose a significant threat to public health. As part of its Initiative, ATHP seeks to contribute to and develop policy and educational resources to help shape the future of Addiction Medicine education and public health training.
